Exhibition Project

So in these two weeks we got we were probably supposed to come up with a presentation of our project. I simply have none. I have an idea but I'm not really sure what to do with it. In order to be able to carry it out I tried to familiarize with Abletton Live which would allow me to mix sounds in real time using whatever device comes to my mind. It works well and the software itself sync to the loaded tracks and even one can create tracks real time or just play them right away using a midi keyboard.

Class named Computer Interface Design Principles was something that gave us the opportunity to work with VJ/DJ software and to use a certain device to operate our performance. Since that time I wanted to do something similar but in a different way. This show I had was about videos and dance following a music that was pre-mixed. As I wouid most probably hardly do this in real time. I never received any verbal nor written feedback so I don't know if this was acceptable, good or even better. But it is something that I'd like to do again in the future.

What I wanted to do was to use my drum controller to operate a series of videos or frames creating something new and with the audience being able to hear the drums. But I decided against this. I can play some instruments to some extent but I'm not probably that good to play in public - well my professor did not think that but anyway it was me who declined all offers for becoming a professional pianist.

Anyway playing the piano and taking music lessons (that I hated a lot) is all I need to be able to produce 'music' of my own. I never thought of that in the past, but as my boyfriend noted - I have all the theoretical knowledge I need and he's most probably right. I hit a stone wall when it comes down to percussion but even with that I can slowly work towards something that can be good.

And well all this leads me to a project in which I would like to explore the world of sounds and music while still working with something visual and something solid (might not be that solid - looking at you bluetooth^_~) with one can interact with.

I'm more of a person who likes wires and cables but I could use Nintendo's Wii or Kinect technology...There are many options to choose from.

But what to do with all of this? At first I wanted something that when hit, passed by or whatever would produce a certain sound and would launch some kind of effect. People would have to try all the sensors to see what they can work with and then try to create something of their own. But if this would be sound based (more...like...tone based) it would probably require some musical skill already in order to be enjoyed fully or understood. That is why I'm trying to come up with something different. In the past 14 days I was trying to come up with patters that could be mixed with certain chords or melodies and would never sound disharmonic but still what is the purpose or meaning of this? Probably none...so well let's move on.

What should I do?

I simply don't know.

The Smile of You - Nekomata Master

Seems like finding a sheet music for this beautiful piece is almost impossible well might be available at nikovideo (but that did not come to my mind). Anyway certain Neko-chan played this piece on a piano and I loved it so much that I had to know the notes.

After a long time I came back to the song and tried to play it. But this song is in um ...whatever it is called ... anyway C moll and that's the worst it could be for me. I'm incapable of singing in C minor and reading notes in this, that's just insane (anything with more 'bs' is better).

So here is a piano version of an opening for the the game known as Elebits (at least in one region). This song is also featured in Beatmania IIDX Gold and it was my first another difficulty AA.

I really like the mood of this song. The song itself is very technical and precise but it evokes some kind of really strange mood in me... I just can't understand that^_^.

Enjoy.

The video was slowed down to match the length of the song. It runs at 130BPM instead of 136BPM. Also the video is at 29.xxx fps and the audio at 23.975 or something. So hm....Not sure what plays a bigger role in making the video slower.
